Ryan ruins Devin's dream
"The Magician" may be a more appropriate nickname after Ryan Garcia's enthralling victory over Devin Haney. Fans were treated to a dramatic fight from start to finish with Garcia delivering three knockdowns to inflict Haney's first professional defeat.
Perhaps Garcia's pre-fight strategy was yet another smart ploy (even down to missing the weight limit) to attract attention and gain an advantage over his opponent. I guess we'll never know.
The fight had it all, but Garcia's speed and power won out. And if Garcia is a one trick pony, it was a trick that Haney couldn't solve.
Garcia'a left hook can't be taught. And for Haney it sure couldn't be avoided.
Garcia wins the fight and the WBC belt becomes vacant. The most unpredictable of sports strikes again.
